Hello! I am César, this week’s translator. Here are the five terms we have worked on:
- Learning: People learn when they acquire and integrate new knowledge in their minds, and interconnect it with other previous ideas in order to form new ones. It is an inherent capacity in human beings and requires the subject to understand the new knowledge thoroughly.
- Teaching: Teaching is a process complementary to learning. It occurs when someone transmits their knowledge to another person or group of people and manages to help those individuals understand the ideas - In other words, learning. It is remarkable that teaching is not always necessary in order for learning to happen - In some situations, humans learn through the environment (E.g. Fire is extremely hot, so I have learned that I must avoid touching it).
- Education: It is the product of the combination of teaching and learning: A process that provides humans with new knowledge. It supplies us with the necessary tools to become a part of society, enjoy our hobbies and develop our skills. It is pivotal for humanity to progress in every field, at any age.
- Image editing: Image editing is a skill that allows us to modify pictures and adapt them to our own necessities or tastes. It covers all kinds of edits, from overlapping pictures on top of others, to more complex photoshopping techniques. In our project, we used a program that allowed us to make quick and simple edits to our pictures.
- Photography: It is the art of capturing snippets from real life and turning them into durable, eternal pictures. Nowadays, photography has become available to almost every person with a mobile phone and thus, we were able to use it for our work.
QUESTION: Does teaching require a specific formative process? Or can anyone teach other people? If so, why is the teacher's training essential/irrelevant?
Our answer is that teaching does require a formative process, but only if the context is academical. A parent teaching his son how to cook a meal does not require a high level of how teaching works. However, in a school, college or academy, teachers need to understand how the human brain learns, how to structure the content they want to teach and how to transmit that content clearly. Otherwise, the learning process can become difficult for the students, and the class organization, unnecessarily complex for the teacher.
