Week 3 - Translator

 Hii! I am Rugiya and this week's translator. Here are 5 terms we figured out on.

Visualization: is the creating or recreating of imaginary or real scenes within one's mind. Visualization is crucial for critical thinking and communication. It also enhances attention because it keeps the audience focused on the subject matter. Charts and other kinds of graphics can be used in visualization.

Innovation:  a sort of learning with  a similar meaning with creative learning, by  which  the learners elicit the change, renewal, reorganization, and a series of new questions. It encourages teachers and students to explore, research and use all the tools to uncover something new. Innovation involves a different way of looking at problems and solving them. The thinking process that goes into it will help students develop their creativity and their problem solving skills.

Multimedia Principle: states that children learn better from words and pictures than from words alone. 

Using the potentialities of ICT reflecting in a graphic story:  Visual narratives, such as comics and animations are becoming increasingly popular as a tool for science education and communication. ICTs are making dynamic changes in society. They are influencing all aspects of life. Similarly,there is no doubt that ICT brings a massive change in the field of education also. It makes the teaching-learning process effective and interesting.

And using the types of Comics in the learning process: Cave art, Hieroglyphics, Auca(cartoon), Photo comics, Modern comics, Superhero comic, and Modern comic. Auca( cartoon) is a genre of a story in pictures. It has a structure somewhat similar to comics, but has more rigid. The auca has a number of  images that can be evenly divided by 4, all images are the same size.

From an educational perspective learning from comics may offer several advantages . First of all, most comics are built on the integration of text and pictures, which has been highlighted by Mayer and colleagues as a guiding principle of textbook illustrations. Moreover, the multimodal nature of comics has the potential to increase readers engagement and facilitate learning . Finally, comics often rely on the use of characters and situation models, which provide the basis for emotional attachment and self-reference, which can also facilitate the formation of new memories

Question: How can the use of ICT help improve the quality of education?

As we know, ICT enhances the quality of education in several ways: by increasing learner motivation and engagement, by facilitating the acquisition of basic skills, and by enhancing teacher training. ICTs are also transformational tools which, when used appropriately, can promote the shift to a learner-centered environment.
