Hi everyone! I am Alex and this week I am the Translator of The Breakfast Club. In order to develop my function, I am going to define the main concepts we have been working this week:

Key Competences: They are those basic competencies that all people need to develop fully and efficiently so that they can be effective in the future society. Between those Key Competences we can found; Communication in the mother language, Communication in foreign languages, Mathematical competence + basic competences in science and technology, Digital Competence, Sense of initiative and entrepreneurship, Cultural Awareness and expression and Social and Civic Competence.

Digital Competence: It involves the correct use of technology to be able to work and communicate effectively and safely. Within the digital competence would be knowing how to use a computer to work or communicate.

Mathematical competence: Mathematical competence involves the use of the rules of mathematics and their operations to solve problems in everyday life. For example, knowing how to add to calculate how much an object costs.

Communication in foreign languages: The ability to understand and express different thoughts, needs or opinions and know how to adapt them to the context using a foreign language.

Cultural Awareness and expression: The ability to understand and appreciate the creative expression of ideas, emotions, such as music or art.

QUESTION : How can we improve digital competence at school?

It is very important that children know how to use technology perfectly so that they can face the needs of this technological world. Therefore, it is important that schools include more subjects related to technology and that they are considered as important. It is also important to ensure that all children have sufficient technological material for the correct development of the subject. In this way, it would significantly improve digital competence.
