Hello everyone! I am César, the analyst for this week, and this is the last project we will be working on! Without further ado, here is my analysis:
Regarding the marks, I will start in alphabetical order: I believe Rugiya deserves a four. Her attitude has improved greatly over the past month and she is being very active. I really appreciate that and the help she brings to the task. As for Noelia, I will give her a five, as she has always felt as one of the two main driving forces of the group. She always gets interesting ideas and always brings constructive, insightful criticism for the proposals we suggest. Iván, in my opinion, deserves a four, since his attitude and participation has improved quite a lot. Just like with Rugiya, I appreciate when people actually try and make an effort for the rest of the team. Continuing with Celia, I think she deserves a five, as she feels like the other driving force of the team. She is probably the most responsible and dependable of us all, always working hard and trying to do her best in the tasks. I believe a four is the most appropriate note for Alejandro, as he helped us make the workflow a little bit faster and completed all of his parts pretty well. Lastly, I would give myself a four, since I feel like I have managed to help complete the task, even though I was not especially participative.
Now, for the analysis of the task!
This task, even though it introduced new content, made us reflect on content we had already studied. Going back to the TPACK and ACAD frameworks and seeing them integrated in a bigger framework, along with the PLE framework made us realize how many competences a teacher really needs. We feel like this was the perfect final touch for this course, as it combines and synthesizes previous concepts that seemed independent and unrelated until now.
The best part of the activity was, by far, realizing how all the frameworks we had worked on were combined under a bigger one. I feel like it gave us more insight on what a framework actually is - A slightly more flexible concept than what we initially thought. The document we were provided when doing the activity was also very insightful, and after reading it, we were ready to jump into the activity with ease. However, every coin has two sides. We had a lot of trouble trying to create the infographic, making a mess while trying to order the circles we used to create the diagram of the infographic. But the worst part was having to resort to Canva… again. We tried finding a new tool for making an infographic, but we just could not find an appropriate tool. And even though Canva does the job, we were disappointed by having to use it again.
This activity has taught us about some of a teacher’s most important competences, the pillars from which an educator must base their action in order to achieve the best education for their students. But most importantly and as I mentioned earlier, it has made us go back and reflect on what a framework actually is, taking us back to the weeks of TPACK, ACAD and the PLE. With this activity, we have learned that a framework is not a rigid, unmovable and independent set of norms, but a combination of guidelines that can be combined with others as a main or secondary component. Another remarkable point about this activity is the strong social component that some of this framework’s points carry. It reminds us that, as teachers, we should never work as soulless machines, only focused on pedagogical techniques and technology - We must also look around, be wary of our social surroundings and help in what we can to reduce inequalities.
Seeing how technology has helped education evolve so rapidly in the past few years is exciting, but also challenging, as we need to adapt to this now rapidly-changing environment. Having this big framework as a starting point for any action we take will surely be useful to stay organised throughout our teaching career.
As for the next weeks… Well, I do not think we have to change anything, considering this is our last task! Perhaps staying in contact? We made some friends within the group during the course, and I think that is the only thing we can really focus on after this task during the summer. Let's hope COVID-19 goes away soon with the vaccine and we can enjoy the sun this year. Not only students - We all deserve it!
