Hi everyone, I am Alex and this week I am the translator. In order to develop my function, I am going to define the main concepts we have worked on this week. As in this task we have been working on the main elements that constitute the teaching competence for a digital world, I am going to define 5 of these elements:
Creator and manager of emergent educational practices: Being able to use ICT to improve teaching strategies and to carry out activities with the use of technology and all the possibilities it offers.
Expert in digital educational content: It consists of knowing different tools and knowing how to use them depending on the needs of the students and having different tools to be able to successfully address the different educational areas.
Expanded Reflective Practitioner: Is about making decisions ensuring that each one leads to a better development of the students, observe them and introduce changes if necessary and finally, evaluate the results obtained.
Sensitive to the use of technology from the social commitment perspective: It is based on knowing how to use ICT to interact with students and keep up-to-date and inform about the trends that surround students.
Able to use technology to expand their relationship with the student's family and environment: Is about opening opportunities to students through ICT coordinating their environment and instructing them about its possibilities and dangers. In addition, it includes using ICT to avoid inequalities outside and inside the school.
QUESTION: Is it important to prepare teachers for a digitized world?
Preparing teachers for an education with technology is essential and should be a priority. Technology offers infinite possibilities and allows educational content to be approached in a more interesting, effective and functional way. Fortunately, it is clear that the teachers of the future will be better prepared to tackle technology. However, we believe that it is also interesting to invest in technology education for those more veteran teachers so that they can meet the educational needs with success of the students of today and of the future.
